I have my bios settings set to 12x multiplier and 75Mhz FSB. But it only runs at 10.5x and 75Mhz FSB. Does anyone know what it could be? Thanks.

C700 multiplier is locked at 10.5. You can set it for whatever you want, but you'll only get 10.5. You can try upping the bus to 83, but you may start getting some lock ups due to your video card of NIC.

Ok, do you know of anyway to unlock it because it doesn't have 83 Mhz only 75. there is a jumper on the mb for 100mhz but it doesn't work. I don't really need to overclock it more anyways since I am waiting for a IWILL KK266 with a 1Gig and selling this to my dad but I just can't be satisfied until I know it's stuck at 788 for good. :)

Hi, welcome to the forums!

Concerning your C700... The multiplier is permantly locked within the chip itself, by intel. It's not like the AMD chips where you can unlock the multi via those bridges. It cannot be unlocked.

The likely reason your 100 FSB jumper doesn't work, is because running this chip there is almost impossible. Very few of the Celeron 700's wiil achieve 100 MHz FSB. The cpu speed is determined by multiplying the FSB by the multi of the chip. In this case;

100 x 10.5 = 1050 MHz

Again, very, very few C700's will reach this speed. The multiplier is just too high. Same with the Celeron 667, 733, and 766. Unfortunately, if your motherboard doesn't have a step between 75 and 100, you might just be "stuck" at 750 MHz. There are a couple of software programs that you can download that may help you out, by giving you a couple more FSB options between 75 and 100.

Before we go any further, however, I really need more information regarding what you have for components in your computer. Most importantly, what motherboard are you using, and what heatsink/fan is cooling your Celeron?? Any other information, in addition to those two things, would be extremely helpful to us, so that we might help you.

One of the best things you could do, is to read the FAQ's and Tips and Techniques sections on the front page here. This information discusses in depth, what is needed to properly overclock your computer. Read the articles there, and then come back to the forums, and ask any questions you may then have.

I will take a look at the faqs. I have tried a software program before but could not find my motherbaord listed. It is a biostar(not sure of the model, I'm at work not home), I have a cooler master on the cpu, Hard drive fan, 5.25" bay drive fan, expantion slot fan, Radeon 32mb pci vcard. Well, off to the faqs but it doesn't look like there is much more I can do anyways.Thanks for your help.
