Hello, I am switching to the Abit AN7 Motherboard when it gets here, and was wondering if I should drop down to 2x256 MB of ram (512MB) or stay with 3x256 MB (768MB). Would I get better performance with Dual channel or with 3 sticks?

Thanks all!

You can run DCDDR with all three sticks however I wouldn't suggest it as you'll be burdening the memory subsystem with the third stick and that'll limit your overclock. Test each stick individually then use the two that clock the highest. If you're running a stock system, all three sticks will be fine.

Run all three, XP is a pig.. From what i've read DC only improves performance for onboard video that shares RAM. I've tested my system and it added up to a few percent increase in bandwidth. If you decide to overclock single channel will be stable at higher speeds than DC.

If you just used Si Sandra, that is a waste...the real test is in apps...run 3d marks and a few real time app benchmarks and then you will see how much DC does improve your system...

I sure do not use any POS IGV...

OK, I will test it both ways and see which is better.

Thanks for the replies!
