is this saying that the compilers show a 220% increase in performance on the p4? I dont know what these tests mean, any info would help alot. thanks in advance.

It means if a program uses compilers designed for the p4 they increase the performance.
Not many apps or games right now are written to take advantage of the p4 architecture.

exactly what is the fpu for, and what type of apps is it important in? (ie. gaming?)
