are the aspire power supplies any good? they are a bit cheaper and they look cool, i know that doesn't matter (the looks) but it's nice to have a good looking computer.
this is the model i'm looking at
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=17-148-008&catalog=58&depa=1
and a question about the top fans, is there any room for the fans to get air from? do they typically blow in or exhaust? and since there's a hole on top, should i cut a hole on top of my case for better ventilation?

lets see....i guess the only thing u could compare an aspire unit would be to...a deer power supply, plz NEVER buy an aspire power supply, they are built really badly
i have a friend that used to own one and from the moment he bought it, i was telling him that it was a piece of garbage, but he wouldnt listen and when he started O/Cing and putting some pressure on the voltage rails, the voltage rails were going in the 11v range and dropping considerably, his machine would also restart and shutdown all the time, there is a reason the aspire power supplys are so cheap, because everything that is in it is cheap.
There is only one company that i know of that makes cheap, high-quality power supplys, and that is Fortron/Sparkle, they make really awesome units, i have mine and it can supply real power to my oced system w/o a drop in the voltages, they stay mostly in the 3%--4% deviation range. If u dont wanna spend too much on a power supply, i would suggest getting a fortron or sparkle power supply (same company)

I would really like more info on this power supply. I have read 4 reviews about this power supply amd in a 4 reviews all rails tested within tolerances. They all rated preformance very high.
This specific Aspire seems to test a lot bettere than any other Aspire( I think the other Aspire power supplies are labeled as
TurboLink and all seem very poor).
Has anybody tested are used this power supply??

yes, that is the exact psu that my friend used to own, and he changed to a antec truepower 550 watt, i dont know how many times i will have to say this, those aspire/turbolink power suplies are GARBAGE, their only use would be as a paperweight, or for throwing around
Just do some research using the search option with aspire and you will find reports of people who really used not just tested that psu. Go with fortron 530, 550 or even the flower power 550 is better then aspire.
