ok some might know some might not know but you cannot create a folder in windows called con

con

ok.

does anyone know the reasons?? searched google and ms site didnt find anything

con, aux, prn stand for console, auxiliary, and printer.

These are old commands left over from the dos days. Which means they could possible still be used in windows as commands under the command prompt. They are just making sure noone names a folder after a command.

they really saved big time there cutting off that "l" :D

Look at how much time they saved by using 2-digit dates. They saved so much that they're back in 1904 right now ;)

hmmm.........interesting.

and germanjulian, exactly how did you come across this little "error"?
were you trying to make a folder full of cons!?!?!?!?:p

There was a bug in IE back in the windows 98 days... if you came across a webpage with the link:
file://c|/con/con/con

and clicked on it, it would give you 2 bluescreens (or, one for every "con".. or any other reserved word).
