I know, I know, I should have known but Visiontek was from my 4600 days and I loved that card. If it wern't for visiontek I probably wouldn't have bought the 9800pro... at least not that willingly. Nvidia is the suck.
Anyways, I recently(about a month) sent back a Visiontek 9800 pro 128 because it was not displaying any video at all. BTW this is for a work machine. Not even my own. No biggie right because Visiontek has a lifetime warranty, right? Well last week I received a video card. Looked kind of odd to me... different heatsinks and such... maybe a revised card or something... you know how every company is trying to be different than the next. Plugged it into the machine and... hmmm.... nothing... Ok that was odd. I pulled the card out and put in my suppose to be temporary 4600 that I have and fired up the machine. All is good. So its the video card. I pull up IE and punched in the numbers at the top right hand corner and I find out that 9700pro comes up in the search. Hmm... something is not right. Flip the card over and look on the bar code sticker and it says 9800pro 128. So the heatsink comes off next and the core reads R300. They sent me a powercolor 9700 pro that looks like this

I am livid. I dont know if I am more mad that I got a 9700 or that its broke and just to make sure that it wasn't a fluke I try the video card again... No post. I email them back and send pics of everything and am asking for an explanation and this is their response.
In looking at the various photos you have provided, we have determined that the card you have there is a 9700 Pro video card. It is actually impossible for that video card to have come from us. We have never manufactured a 9700 Pro, nor have we sold or otherwise dealt with those video cards. Additionally we do not have any such video cards anywhere in our warehouse inventory or otherwise. We do not re-badge our video cards, all of them are manufactured to be VisionTek Video Cards, which that card is clearlny not. It most likely seems that the sticker on your video card has been removed from a proper 9800 Pro and placed on this 9700 Pro. We strongly suggest you look into the nature of the reception of your video card. Were you the one who originally singed for the package or was it handled by anyone else before you got it? Did anyone have access to the package either opened or un-opened without your supervision? All visual evidence we could gather from your photos (Serial Numbers, PCB Numbers, Barcodes, Card nStructure, Component ID, Fan, and Canadian Broadcast ID) support that the card has been changed out and the sticker changed, and as was stated, it is impossible for us to have send you a 9700 Pro
I know that I shouldnt take it personally since it is a work machine it belongs to but I do because I opted to get the visiontek and I always had faith in them and their products in the past have been great. Neither my work or I ever owned a 9700 pro... untill now and its broke! I was the one that broke the seal on the static bag so are they calling me a liar? What should I do? I am sorry to vent to you guys but be warned. Visiontek is out to f you in the @ss dry with sand. Never buy their products unless you want to deal this bs that my work and I have to sort out now. Should have gone strait to Dell... Thanks for listening.
