Does anyone know of any high powered compression utility/software i can use to backup about 8 gb of stuff on my PC before i reformat?

ghosting? I've used it before and it did some pritty good compression. Can't quite remember but i htink it compressed something like 8 gig to 5 or something. Not sure, BTW, I used Norton Ghost

Norton ghost is not free, I don't know of any ghosting software that is free,But here's (http://www.softwareoutlet.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=S&Product_Code=4663&Product_Count=&Category_Code=) a site that has Norton Ghost 2000 for $9.99, if you have another large harddrive you could download UBCD (http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/) and use HDClone to clone the disk image
