Guys,

First off, heres my new rig I put together yesterday:

Athlon64 3200+
Gigabyte 8KNNXP m/b
Powercolor 9800XT 256MB
Ultra160 SCSI 10,000 RPM 40gig drive with adaptec adaptor
2* CMX512 XMS2500C2 from Corsair.

Now for the funny part>>>> If I cant even get the ram to run at its rated latencies (2/3/3/7) at a fsb of 200!!!!! As soon as I get to the WinXP screen after Bios, it just hangs. Even if I leave the mb ddr settings to auto (not touching any timings myself), I cant get it past 208fsb!!!!!! What the hell??

Now, the real funny part>>>>>>>I put in my 2 sticks of 512 PC2700 (el cheapo generic, 1 is twinmos), and can get my fsb up to 332mhz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!How do you figure that? Mind you, that is with ddr timings set to auto. That means my A64 3200+ is running at 3.32ghz!!!!

Windows boots fine, etc, and I can run 3dmark2001se with no problem. With my 9800XT oced to 425core/390mem, I get a score of 21,689!! Is that a pretty decent score or what!! I mean, I just forked out $260AU per stick for this corsair mem which is rated at 434mhz (217fsb) and my pc2700 333mhz can run at 460mhz (230fsb)!!!!!!!!!!

Can anyone explain this abnormality???? It is all on the stock cooling as well, no mods, just 2 small neon case fans.

Try one stick of XMS at a time to see if there's just one bad stick. If so, RMA the bad stick to Corsair (or where you got it from) and wait for the replacement.

P.S. Great engine in a great car ;)

That corsair is sick, i got a 512 stick a little while ago and it does 255mhz 2-2-2-11 100% stable with 3.3v.
Trust in corsair's bh-5 :)

not sure, but maybe the twinmoss is bh6? sounds like your corsair is ch5 and 1 stick is underperforming or is defective

People have been finding some great overclcoking chips for cheap on generic ram lately.
