Can somebody help me on how to overclock my celeron 466? I have clocked it up to 525, but can't get it beyond! Got it stable at 583, but can't start the OS... Help would be welcome!
Pre thanks!

WELCOME TO THE FORUM
well first we will need more info, your motherboard, your ram, what kind of hardware are you running, what stepping on your CPU cco cbo ect ect. What are your temps? what kind of heat sink fan [HSF] are you running?
I highly reccomend reading through the tips section and get yourself some background knowledge as there can be quite a bit more to learn then just raising FSB front side bus and CV core voltage to your CPU. your PC will thank you later.
goodluck
Please post your system specs so we can get an idea of what you need to do. I noticed in the CPU database (avail. at our home page) that the core voltage on most oc'd 466 Celerons is over 2.0V. Check the database for results and tecnoques of successful Overclocks.
To give you advice we will need;
Motherboard Make and model (update the BIOS)
What kind of cooling for case and what Heatsink and fan you are using.
What speed and manufacturer of memory is helpful.
complete hardware list (sound, video, drives etc.)
The stepping of the chip is not neccessary but can help to know what to expect. Download SisoftSandra and Wcpuid at http://www.tweakfiles.com. These programs will give you the CPU info and other pertinent information that can help us help you.
And Welcome to the forums!!
Ooops! our posts crossed outhouse. BTW check out my thread about my new chip. I value your opinion and any advice. :)

I also Had a 466 celery couldn't get it past 540, I was told that it was becouse it did not have the coppermine core that I could not take the FSB any higher. I have now got a cellery 600 cC0 running @ 1027 114X9.

Wow did you buy my old system:} I also had a matsonic MoBo. Could not change the Vcore on it, so I bought an Abit VH6-II, even changing the V still could not get past 540. Sorry About your luck,, Might want to look into getting a cellery 600 cC0 pretty cheap and lots of fun.

Okay. Here's an update on my system.
I'm going to by myself a new computer, but I'm still in the concideration phase. I concider a 1gHz Athlon (but, I need a mainboard supporting an athlon that runs on an Intel chipset due to my screencard) or a Pentim III 933mHz. Witch is the better one of these?
And also witch mainboard do you guys recomend? I currently have only two demands: Intel bhipset, and 4x AGP port.

Hi StenPett,
I've a C2 600 cb0 @ 907Mhz on Msi 6337 i815E Pro and my Dad a Great Amd T1200@1400 on Abit KT7A and I suggest you to choose Amd (It's cheaper and powerfully compared to Intel) it's my next way ;-)

I think I will definately choose the AMD. both due to power and price, but I need a mainboard with Intel chipset. Can anybody please tell me the name of a good mainboard with Intel chipset supporting Athlon 1gHz?
