Hey, I have a Slot 1 PIII 500, some of you will be familiar with the rather large chip stuck on the backside.

I do a fair bit of work on my CPU and today I bent one of the contacts comming off this chip. I am debating covering these pins with something like goop or a silicone. can anyone see ither of these product being a problem. Or do you have a another solution to protect the fragile contacts.

Cheers

Silicone goop is OK, just be sure you don't use the types that use an acid cure (Acetic Cure) as these corrode eletrical joints.

Use something like RTV3140, grey or RTV 738.

You can tell the acid cure types of silicone as they smell like Lemon??
