Assuming one is overclocking an Athlon Mobile 2500+ processor, what real world performance difference would one see with great vs. good memory. For example, what real world difference would one see between these two settings:

12 * 217 = 2604 MHz with 2–2–2–11 timings
13 * 200 = 2600 MHz with 2.5–3–3–8 timings

My guess would be that the performance difference would only be 6 – 7 %.

I have looked around, and haven’t been able to figure this out. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I think thats a reasonable estimate.

Ive personally run those tests myself. The number is closer to 10-15%.

The difference between 2-2-2-6 and 2-2-3-6 is close to 5%.

There is a much steeper penalty going from 2-3 than there is from 3-4.

I still have no idea why this is, but ive seen it with mine own eyes.

I would go with higher FSB with those smaller timings. In real world apps. I seriously doubt u will notice much. But knowing u got it working faster is a pat on the back.
