For OCing a 2.4C P4 to the 3.0-3.2 GHz Range. I want to keep the memory at a maximum of $150 for a dual pack 2x256 (512megs total)

I'm not sure what's the best to get, PC3200, 3500, 4000 and of whoose brand? I want to make sure it's got the right stuff to meet the OC needs I have.

I want to stick with Corsair or Mushkin I think.

Although it isnt mushkin or corsair, you should try adata 4200. people have been getting great results with them http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=271556

Pretty much any PC3200 will take a P4 2.4c to 3.2Ghz using the 5:4 divider. At 250FSB or 3.2GHz, using the 5:4 divider will run the memory at 200Mhz which is stock PC3200 speed.

I'm a big OC noob.. don't know much about the divder. I was reading in another thread that someone was trying to get RAM so he can do 1:1, is that better then 5:4 ?

1:1 is better than 5:4 if you can run the same timings in both scenarios. 1:1 at loose timings versus 5:4 at tight timings is about a wash with the latest Intel systems.

Oh, and correction to the above. I meant to say 3.0Ghz, not 3.2 Ghz. A 2.4c at 250FSB is 3.0GHz, not 3.2 Ghz. Sorry for the mixup.

Anyhow, if you have $150 and want to stay with Mushkin, then go with their 2-2-2 Special memory. You should have no problems getting to 3.2Ghz or above using that memory with the 5:4 divider.

There are several stickies that will help you understand the ins-and-outs of various BIOS settings. They are worth looking at.

As for the RAM its your call. Buy the fastest stuff that is available and do not worry about its latency.

I have heard good things about the Adata modules. Have a look at that thread If you are interested.
