Where's the stupid multiplier on a compaq mboard?
I think it's this jumper but i'm not sure how to set it.
I see JP3, R394, R395, R396 beside the jumpers. There are 3 jumper slots with only 2 jumpers on them.
It doesn't say anything like 4.5 or 5.5. I need to set it to 5.5 because 550mhz is the max for my computer. I have a 450 P3 right now please help! If you need more info please say so.

You can't change multipliers on intel cpus. So changing from 4.5 to 5.5 would make no difference.

Sort of related to this, wheres that FAQ already! :)

you are correct sir........

there hasn't been a multiplyer setting that has mattered on a Pentium since the P II 233 I believe.

I doubt it....at least not using the bios or jumpers. "Name brand" computer builders tend to leave these options off so you can go screwing around inside their systems which they have to warranty.

You may try SoftFSB on it, but sounds like you may be a bit new to Overclocking. If that's the case, I would go read the beginners guides on the main page http://www.overclockers.com and get a pretty good working knowledge before I tried to do anything. You may wind up blowing a system from lack of knowledge.

I have FSB but I don't know what model my motherboard is, and I don't know what to put for "target clock generator and target mainboard (compaq doesn't tell me anything)
please respond

What kind of Compaq is it... I have a Deskpro En Serier which I know how to overclock...but I don't reccomend overclocking that Compaq. Especially if it still has a warrenty.

you can try and get the number off of the chip on the mobo itself.

Probablyl says somethign like PLL4534645645, or WinBond3453426

small 1" by 1/2" square black chip........look for any numbers you can find and see if they match anything in Soft FSB.
