I hear video games mess up TV's over time. is this the same case for plasma TV's? i would like to hook up playstation and a computer to my plasma for gaming, but worried that it might mess up the display over time.

If you have an old old plasma tv and you let it sit on a pause screen for a week then look out. I don't think it would affect newer plasma tvs. I remember when plasma first came out and businesses were frying their screens using powerpoint. oops i left it on overnight now its there forever. lol.

Yes, it will ruin your plasma TV, so give the plasma to me and you'll have nothing to worry about ;)

Generally speaking, no.

There is the danger of that happening, yes, but don't let it worry you. It will happen eventually. It's the same as leaving it on the same TV station a lot...you know the little bug in the lower right corner that TV stations use? That has a chance of burning in if you watch the same TV station a lot.

To be honest, though, gaming won't do it. The only way a game can do it is if the in game HUD stays the same throughout, AND you play that game for several hours every day. Or, as already mentioned, you pause the game and leave the monitor on.

But to be sure, it's not damage. Everything will still work perfectly. The only thing that can happen is "burn in," which is when an image is burned onto the screen..meaning it is always there, even when the screen is off. However, it's usually a VERY faint image that you won't even notice.

Actually, it MAY mess up your plasma TV. With current plasma technology, burn-ins happen VERY quickly. As quick as 30 minutes for white-on-black images.

Just as long as you dont leave the game on pause for hours on end then no it wont hurt it.

burn-in's will not occur on plasma's that are manufactrued recentlly. if they do leave the screen off for 30-60 mins and the image will gradually fade away. :D

Plasma screens will come down in price, they are very easy to manufacture, a lot of no name manufacturers starting to pop up. Don't buy one right now, wait about a year or so.

Sorry, guess I should have tried READING the post there. But no, don't hook a game system to it, nothing like watching Lord of the Rings with a giant PAUSE in the middle os the screen.

Or maybe if you are gonna have it on pause for a long time, turn the TV off?

Whoa, and I thought burn-in was a thing of the past with the newer CRTs and LCDs, and now it's back with plasma monitors?

Please watch the language. Even if its not meant in a harsh manner. I've been seeing way too much lately. The swear filter will edit out anything spelled normally. I don't mean to pick on anyone. Just a courteous request. Ten lines in your sig at default size is also in the forum rules.

He could easily get rid of the "rounded cables" information. Because we don't care.

And, yes, burn in is a very big thing with plasma screens, it's the price you pay. The good part though is you can only see it on light backgrounds, the bad news is it only takes a few hours for an image to get burned in. The start bar is permanently burned into the one we have at work, and all the windows icons like My Computer, etc.

You're looking for high definition. 480p is most plasma screens, 720p would be high definition, or 1080i, i think the resolution is 1920x1080. Do they even make a 21" plasma though? Are you thinking LCD?
