I am new to this over clocking thing, and unfortunately bought this Gateway before I started building PC's on my own.

What I was wondering, how much can you overclock an OEM computer?? I havent torn it down enough to check the mobo, but I did find out from Gateway it will only handle 384 meg of memory. While I am posting, I was also curious how much you can overdrive a P200mmx, that I got for free (full PC including the 13" screen :)

Sorry if I didnt include enough info for answers, but bear with me please. This all requires somewhat of a learning curve.

Unfortunetly your overclocking options are probably very close to nil. Name brand computers (Gateway, Dell, etc.) don't usually have options in the bios to overclock like off the shelf motherboards, and there are probably no jumpers on the bios.

You may, however, be lucky, some of those old Gateways did have jumpers. Take a look on your motherboard and see what's there.

Another good place to start is the Overclocking FAQ on the homepage. It will help you get started on Overclocking and is a very good reference for help.

the p200 falls under the same conditions that have been already stated by Kingslayer,, but if you can get more info on the chip/compter (if there is one) im sure we could help
