View Full Version : cel600@900 too hot at 1,9v???
my celeron600@900 seems to work at 1,9v.
i got a temperature of approx. 46degrees?
is that too hot? also i'm not sure if the point from
where i get the temperature is to far away from the core. im using a globalwin fop32 on a abit-bx6.
please help, thank you so much ;-)

Welcome to the forums!
is 46 under load? The FOP32 is a very good sink. Are you using the thermal pad that came on it? Have you lapped it? Are you using Artic Silver or Radio Shack stuff?
Bit more info would certainly be of help. =)
you're right.
46 degrees means under load (prime95-seti@home).
im using the thermal pad of the globalwin (should i get rid of it?)
im using no special glue (no arctic silver), just a noname-one.
at the moment i'm trying to burn it in at 600mhz with 1,9v, i hope
this will work.
it seems nearly stable at 900, 1.9v, but by shuttung down the system,
often it wont reboot!
thank you for more tips

I'd definitely lose the thermal pad and at least go to radio shack and pick up some thermal compound. You may see some pretty impressive temp drops.
thx, i'll try losing the thermal pad and get some radio shack-stuff.
what do you say about the temperature in general. whats your
experience. sandra says something about 120degrees cpu heat ;-)
is this burn-in-process gonna work?

that temp is just a bit high........keep an eye on it if you are going to burn it. Compare your Sandra temps to your bios temps for accuracty tho.

Are you using the thermal pad AND thermal grease ? You should use only one of them, preferably thermal grease.
thx for yout advice, but the damn chip won't get real
working even at 1,9V! it passes prime95, seti and sandra but playing quake it dies.
depends on the cB0-stepping (1,5V)?
perhaps i'll try to get a cC0-one.
other tips to make it it work properly?
my temperature is confusing, but on 1,9V it gets max.
3-5degrees higher than on 1,5V.

My personal experience is with the same chip, a C2 600 cb0 @907Mhz at 1.85v, my temps are, with an ambient temp of 28 degree C, 37@idle and 44@full load with Folding@Home, Mobo 34C and case temp 29C.
I use an Alpha cooler Pep66 modded with 2 fans (Sanyo-Denki that blow and Delta38 that sucks) and thermal paste AS II.
I hope this info help's you :-)
thank you all.
definetely my chip doesn't seem to work properly in my system.
(the globalwin32 must be efficient enough)
burnin in is ****, no improvement
removed the pad an used radio shack-stuff: a little less heat,
but the chip crash sometimes (especially quake and wont reboot for
exactly 2 time)
the only thing happend is that i cut finger with the sharp F***ing
components!
so far, if you have any suggestions gentlemen?!

You can upgrade the airflow of the Case installing more fans (I've a full tower Yeong-Yang with 5 Sunon's: 2x80, 2x92 and 1x120mm) for a resulting temp of 1-2degree C more than ambient.

burning in doesnt work for everyone, some say it works but some don't
but it works for me fine

Who said messing up with computers isn´t a dangerous sport ?
hey guys!
in the end i bought another cel600, with cc0 stepping.
it works fine @927mhz with default voltage!
yipeeeeee!
summary: burn in is useless, cb0 stepping is not
the best stepping for oc.
