Well first off i just bought a AMD duron 1.8. figured it was cheap and had read great things on these boards about how easy they are to OC. Now my two questions are: 1. whats a safe OC range for this CPU? i want to OC it as much as i can safely. 2. Any mobo in particular i should look at? i dont want to spend a ton of cash as this is just a back up, but i want it to reach its potential. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've read around a couple tech sites, and it seems that around 2.1ghz is a safe OC range for your chip. Just don't raise that voltage to high ;)
As for the a good "cheap" mobo, I'd suggest that you get the Abit NF7 or the Abit NF7-S. Get the NF7-S v2.0 if you can, the NF7-S is one of the best socket A OCing boards out. Hope this helps ya out.

if you duron is anything like my 1600's you should be able to get to 2100 with stock volts my 1600's will do 2100~2200 @1.5v just dont let your temps get out of hand. if you have a good cooler you shouldnt have to worry about your temps

if it is like my 1400 you will barly see 2000 @1.5v
