This is a cB0 cel 566 at 935. I have it running on 2.0v, with a volcano II and AS II. Should I be worried at all?

2.0v is ok if you have good cooling. What are your temps.....idle/load?

I would try to run it @ 1.95v as it may add more life on to your cpu. I had a Celeron II 600 @ 1ghz 2v, but i kept it cool @ 39C load.

also you can check the CPU database and see how many others are running with that same CV if you were the only one i would be a little worried, all in all as Carmine_Paterno said you should be OK but remember all CPU's will fry at different CV so all we can say is goodluck if it makes you feel better i'm running with 2.05.

It's around 40 at idle, I can't really give you accurate load temps because this board spikes them for like a 1/2 second at 60-70 range.

Whoa, 40 degrees at idle? That's smokin' hot! If I were you, I'd back off a notch or two and think about doing somethink to cool that puppy down. If my chip was that hot, I'd be more than worried, I'd be scared.

i have batboys celly 566 running at 954 at 1.75 v. it works ok at 1.7v here too.
usually stays arround 35 degrees c at full load except in this god aweful heat we're having right now.

I'm not too worried about the 40C at idle, because when I feel the back of the slotket, it doesn't feel very warm at all. During games it heats up, but that's to be expected.

hey, were not trying to steer you wrong here
the intel product sheets say that the max celeron temp is about 50C, so 40C-50C is a good working temp!
if you want to blow out your hardware, thats your buisness, but we are NOT trying to steer you wrong,
ive heard stories about guys who think they know more about OCing than all of us, needless to say they cranked up thier CPU to 45C idle and BOOM, thier CPU got fried!
so what im saying is, trust me it may not feel hot on a slocket, but thats because heat dissapates over distance and thru that plastic, it blocks some of the heat
the CPU measures temp on the CPU, so what your mobo tells you is the actually CPU temp

like ive said before
trust us, weve all had our expereinces

and btw, you are correct about it going up in temp during games.
my high temp is 41C working, and about 35C idle on a PIII

H2k, with my experience (and I did lots of testing with 3 different CPU coolers and various fans) my full load temps are about 10 degrees higher than idle temps. That puts you close to 50 degrees when playing intense 3D games. Trust us, for a coppermine Celeron, that is waaaay too hot. If you haven't run into stability problems (lock ups, BSOD, error messages, and crashes) you will eventually. High temps significantly reduces the life span of electronic components, especially the CPU. You definitely need better cooling. I'm puzzled why you posted the question in the first place if you feel there is no problem. I set up my cooling so the CPU temps load do not exceed 40 degrees. That puts idle temps at about 30 degrees (give or take). At some point there is going to be a crackling sound and a little puff of smoke. Then you'll have to buy another CPU.

Ebola, it's great to hear that my old trusty C-566 is still alive and well and cranking along. Is that one awesome CPU or what. Kind of hated to sell it, but glad you bought it and are taking good care of it. I'd be crying right now if H2k had it and was abusing the poor thing.

My cb0 566 is overclocked at present to 920, with an IWILL sloket. My current voltage is 1.95 and I did get it up to 2.05 at one time. Just make sure you have adequate cooling. I would not go above 1.95, though.

I've backed off to 850/1.7v last night, because I didn't like the idea of running at 2.0v. One more thing I'd like to add, i think the temp sensor on this mobo is crap. I plugged the chip into a cuv4x (i have p3v4x) , and the temps were consistently about 8C lower, I'm not too sure what this means, but I think it's something to think about.

thought i would reply to this one. I have two systems one running a cel 566@850 standard everthing and the other a cel 800@896 at the moment (only bought that yesturday) and the funny thing is i tried both cpus in both machines and they show @10 deg c temp diff on one machine, both cases are identical the only difference is the hotter of the two boards is the abit bf6 which idles at @39 degs the other board is a soyo sy 6ba+4 which idles at 29 deg, both measured using sisoft sandra. I have tried both chips in both machines with standard coolers and they give the same results, the bf6 is always @10degs higher, any ideas.
