Strange messages in Windows2kpro

I just finished my new system and am running Windows2000 Pro. Laugh that I use AOL for the internet, but now I am recieving messages while signed online, but they are not in AOL, they are really annoying and I'm not sure how to fix this security problem. I hope to be able to take my computer to where I can download service pack 4 next week. Any other ideas?

go to Start > Run and type services.msc Scroll down to the Messenger service. Right click it and select properties. On the dropdown select disabled and stop the service.

Your welcome That is the services window, don't disable things unless you KNOW what they are and what they do...
