How much can i overclock a comp with theses specs?
Abit VH6
P3 800EB FC PGA 133Mhz (using original intel heatsink)
230W P.Supply
128MB Ram 133Mhz
10 Gig Quantum Fireball Plus LM( don't know what rpm is it running at)
Creative GeForce 2MX 32MB DDR

You can o/c this machine to the 900MHz barrier and more, just your power supply is probably going to be a limiting factor and maybe your original heatsink. Your Quantum might pose a problem too if its a 5400rpm.

its always a crap shoot, but you can safely say any processor will go 10-15% above rated spec, most will go more. Like last post said, that'll get you 900+, depending on cooling, etc.. :)

thanxs for the input guys......but FYI......i have managed to OC my comp to 1.064Ghz with a 8x8x2 sizd fan sucking air into the cpu.
3 fans on the CPU one original intel fan. the intel fan is placed in the normal position while the 2 4x4x1 fans are placed on each side of the heat sink, one blolwing air into the heat sink the other sucking air out of the heat sink
the average tempreture of the case is between 33-36 celsius and the average for the CPU is 34-35 and a maximum of 39

Well all CPU's will overclock differently its a shame you cant get your ambient temps down that would help to get you higher, what is your FSB at rite now, i know your limited to 150FSB so that may stop you there. try minus clock speed and disable sideband in registry try cas2 and see if its stable and run it in Turbo mode to get back some bandwidth from running minus clockspeed and you may get a little more out of her, also check www.rojakpot.com and go through there BIOS guide and tweak things for stability and performance.
goodluck
just thought of this for 20 bucks + shipping 5 bucks you can get a Gladiator HSF with a Delta and your temps will be around 2 to 3C above system temps at full load no more extra fans, at 39C your temps are to hot my CPU would shut down at those temps but its overclocked to the max.

but there is another factor to consider......i live in Malaysia.....and the normal room tempreture is around 30 celsius...........

nice overclock...sounds like with your ambient temps, your doing pretty well on cpu temps... good luck :)

thanx......
Care to share how you got the vh6 past 150mhz fsb?? which is in itselt impossible??
I would like to know because i have a vh6 and 800eb, and i max it out at 900 = 150fsb.

well..........with the multiplier factor of 8 and the p3 800 system bus speed of 133.......you get 1.064
As you will soon hear, I expect, the multiplier on the P3 is fixed. On an 800e the multiplier is 8, (8 * 100 fsb = 800 mhz), but on the 800eb the multiplier is 6, (6 * 133.33 fsb = 800 mhz). If you do have the 800eb, and are running at 150 fsb, then you can only be going 900 mhz.
Now if you have an 800e, then that's a different story.
What have you got there?
anvil
Ahhh right so you dont have an EB, you have an E.
Your chip has a fsb of 100mhz, whilst the eb has 133.
