I really don't understand this anymore. Yesterday I've been capturing and rendering videoclips all afternoon without any probs. And just tonight all of a sudden she locks up on me while browsing the web. (CPU temp was only 30C) She can be stable for days, so what is this? I'm using a generic slotket, would getting a brand name help? Right now I'm back down to 896Mhz (112FSB) cuz I need to get my work done, lol!

maybe its not the processor. if your temps are 30 degrees then i doubt you would be having lock up problems from the processor alone. maybe you have crappy ram. I've had it happen.

Yeah I'm suspecting it's the combination of my mobo and my memory. Cuz there are some weird things like if I take out the PC100(!) 64MB stick, with the 256MB PC133 stick she wont even make it to 135Mhz!? And sometimes during POST the BIOS flashes that there's "no SPD found in DIMM-4" but there are only 3 DIMM slots on the BE6-II. I'm not gonna invest in a new mobo or quality memory, cuz I'll be going the palomino-route when that time comes. There's no probs. at 112Mhz FSB, so I'll just take this mild OC and learn to be happy with it...

I'm having weird problems with my cel 800 too. It's on and Asus p3v4x, and ran flawlessly at 992mhz, and 1066Mhz with the cover off, and an extra fan. Now it's locking up at 992, and it gives me registry errors at 1066. What gives?

Did you try 1.95V like me? My system does not get stable with an underclocked PCI/IDE speed, like 1Ghz@125FSB with a 1/4 PCI multiplier I sometimes get win2k stopscreens "IRQL not less or equal", and my SBLive! card starts to make 'squeeling' sounds very rarely, lol! So I have to go for a decent FSB speed with 1/3 PCI or goto 133 or above with 1/4 PCI. Also try to disable AGP aperture (set it to 4MB) and lower your AGP speed (4x to 2x or even 1x), and don't forget to set your RAM to CL3.

I'm very hesitant to raise the vcore past 1.85V. Ran stable for 2-3 weeks at 1066, then all of a sudden it's locking up, and not booting properly. So I dropped it down to 992. Now it's doing the same thing. I may need to resaet my heatsink, I'm sure I moved it a bit while I was playing inside the system at some point or another. I also have a voodoo3, so I can only run at 1X agp. Gonna play around with it a bit before I post an actual "problem". Thanks for the advise, I'll check check those things out.

I never thought about taking her just one notch down, and well well...at 134FSB she runs at 1.9Vc and 3.5Vio (instead of 1.95Vc and 3.6Vio @ 135FSB) maybe 135 was right on the edge, so I really hope this stays stable. Just keep watching my siggy!
