If I run a PIII whose operation speed it supposed to be 700MHz and I run it at 600MHz, will there be any problems, other than the CPU running cooler?

Hi bowside,
You want to underclock your Cpu (or just do it) managing Fsb from 100Mhz to 83/85Mhz for better temps, is it right?
If YES, you got Pci Freq. not standard, around 42Mhz! and you can have probs with many Hd and Pci cards, better try with Fsb@66Mhz.

I hope it help's you :-)

Why run it at 600?? Well your PCI would be 28.57 or 42.86!! Your agp would be 57.14 or 85.7!! But my question is still why???

If your peripherals are doing fine at 83mhz fsb, then they will run fine at around 133mhz fsb, so I would say get some cooling and overclock it.
It sounds like you have a LX? chipset that will only do 83mhz tops am I right? there are some good cheap mobo's out there that will get you the default speeds your cpu requires.
as to your question, I see no real probs but your hdd might die an early death if it is an older one.
Running it at 66mhz would be a waste as you would only be doing about 400mhz with a 700.
The 700E is a great chip, mine will do 1125 durring the winter, and it runs stable @ 1050 in the hottest days of summer...and TT120 can confirm the temps of last week here in the big valley were around 105 f for about a week....your results may vary :-)
P.S. Welcome to the forum

I probably should have given some more info first:
MoBo running at 66MHz, Multiplier Clock of 6, therefore Celeron running at 400MHz.
Usinf Socket370 to Slot1 converter, use PIII 700MHz, which will have to run MoBo at
100MHz, therefore PIII running at 600MHz.
In time, when I get 133MHz Ram, I will put MoBo at 133MHz, and have PIII at 800MHz. I want to make sure my MoBo is properly ventilated and cooled first, before I go to 133.
With this plan, all peripherals will run at 33MHz, and my AGP is OK too. Will running the PIII at 600 be bad in some way (other than it actually being slower than I could make it go)?
Thanks.

It will run at 700MHz. The P3 700 has a multiplier of 7, not 6 and this is locked in no matter what your board tops out at. 7 X 100 = 700MHz.

So the multiplier is in the chip itself?
I thought it was on the motherboard.
Just call me moron!

yeah all multipliers are built into the chip but amd allows u to change it. Intel(********) locks them so we can't change it.

Ahhhhh......
My braincells are understanding now.
Thanks a million.
