What's everybody's thoughts on how a p4 will perform when paired up with DDR compared to a p4 with Rdram?

My thoughts are that I think that the p4 is a bandwidth hungry cpu and is well matched with the Rdram and mating a p4 with Ddr could only cripple it's performance.

What's everyone's opinion?

My opinion is that both are pointless because you are running a 64bit CPU on a 32 bit system.

And that 32 bit system is made by a 2 bit company, that can't stand 1 bit of competition... ???

XP? We don' need no stinkin' XP...

hahahaha...nice one mr.b, but if you have all this animosity towards windows, you should try the only decent OS its come out with...Win2k...it really is ten times more stablethan 98 SE which is really worse than 95......

Your absolutely right that both are pointless at the moment since current systems are 32 bit, but someone had to start making 64 bit chips before companies will start producing 64 bit OS' and programs.

Wait...p4's are 64 bit? I did not know that, I thought the Itanium and Clawhammer where going to be the first 64 bit chips, oh well, you learn something new everyday.

Oh my god, when I read MrB's answer I shot mountain dew out my nose. ??? That's a great answer and so SO TRUE. We should all get together and write our own OS with three goals in mind.
1) Free
2) Dosn't crash EVER
3) Suports true 64bit

That's the truth, you can't build software no one can run.

I agree with Blue Jester_2112.
As far as I know, the P4 is still a 32bit CPU.

I tried to find something on Intel's site that discusses the bit technology used with their chip, but found nothing, nil, notta, squat.

if anyone has or has seen the official specs, please put a link here...

I have read numerous reviews on this subject, however, when I think of it, have seen nothing official from Intel -- which means this is all speculation.

**But I think I found it (http://support.intel.com/support/processors/ia64/overview.htm).

The only thing that it says at Intel's site is that the P4 will still continue IA32 compatability.

However, Adobe is making a 64 bit patch for Photoshop 6.0 in order for it to be fully optomized on P4's.
