I had my so called seti farm up. And my electric bill was 9x times bigger then the previous month.
Here is the pcs.
One xp1800 at Xp2000+ 147fsb with 300w psu
Dual Mp1800+ with 350w psu
Amd Xp2400+ at 2.2gig with 420w psu
Intel P3 550e at 733mhz with 350w psu
Please check my rig spec for full details. These pcs were on 24/7. To do seti for me. How many kilowatts, what power usage do you expect from 4 pcs like these. And how to calculate the power usage. Around 1420w total psu power in all 4pcs, and Im think 1420 power is being used. And I was thinking on making my farm bigger, but I cant afford it. Its alwyas been my Xp1800 with the psu 420w, and p3 733 with 350w on 24/7/365 and very low billl, before Ive upgraded.
Thanks
9X higher? If my bill was 9X higher it would be about $900. At one point I had 15 machines running 24/7 in my home, and my bill was never higher than $400 a month - even during the dog days of summer. Are you sure your increase can't be explained by something else?

I had 4 seti systems running in my office last summer where no other electric was running except to the computers. I might of had the lights on once in a while but no big deal. Anyways the electirc total was around $50 - $60 a month which included the base charge for the service.
found this for you should help you out..

JUst because the PSU are rated at a total of 1420w does not mean that the total is that high. You are probally running about 1/3 to 1/2 of that figure. There has to be something else. Do you have electric heat? Was it really cold last month?
I've got 4 P-4's @ 3ghz ea plus 2 notebooks at another 1.5 ghz and still only in the 120$us per month range. Thats with two adults two kids and four tv's electric stove and clothes dryer.
Actual #'s for last month: 1513kwh for 29 days for 112us$, figrue differencs in usage from last year is 22kwh according to my electric company. Last year at this time I was only running 1 P4 1.8ghz willy and a 700mhz notebook if that helps you any.

300 Watt is 0,30 KwH per hour if it actually use 300 W. But I happen to own a small thing that can measure how much power a certain thing will use per hour! Plugged it on my com. for a while. My pc (xp-2400 with 1 HDD - cddrive and a rewriter) took about 90 - 120 Watt per hour.
Hope it helped you out!
Hmmm, my 13 machines at home, plus UPSes, TVs and etc. bring our bill up to around $80-120 depending on AC usage during the summer. That is here in KY where elec is cheap.
I'm still not sure what you mean by your increase. Can you just post how much money each bill was (pre and post pharm usage) for us?
