It's pretty simple. I want to buy an 850/100MHz Pentium III cD0 stepping so I can plug it in and set the bus speed to 133MHz and run it at 1.13GHz.
The latest Intel Pentium III Processor Specification Update says that the S-Spec is SL4Z2 for an OEM chip. Where can I buy this chip?

Thanks,

Titan

Maybe you should look at the S-spec chart again, because there is no such critter.

batboy, the Intel Pentium III Processor Specification Update release dated June 2001 number 244453-031 page 26 says:

S-Spec: SL4Z2
Core Stepping: cD0
CPUID: 068Ah
Speed (MHz) Core/Bus: 850/100
Package: FC-PGA (370 pin)

This is the latest update that's been released, so it's possible they may not have reached the channel yet.

The SL49G is the same thing, only a boxed processor with an unattached fan heatsink. Trouble is it's also a cB0 0683h, so I don't want that one.

Thanks anyway batboy. Anyone else know?

Here's the official Intel S-spec chart where I looked. If you found info to the contrary, please post the URL, I'd be interested in reading it.

Just follow the link at the bottom of that page, then download the pdf at the bottom of the next page.

It says "S-Specs are exceptions to the published specifications, and apply only to the units assembled under the S-spec." I don't know what that sentence really means. It reads like circular logic to me.

I really doubt cD0 chips with a multiplier of 8 or 8.5 will ever be available on a FC-PGA 100MHz bus. Intel knows people would buy it instead and just set the bus to 133MHz. I was just interested in seeing if anyone else knew anything about this.
