Hi
IŽd like to know if a Tualatin, lets say the 1.133GH Version (maybe in the Serverversion! I like the idea of having 512KB L2 *g*), works with the VIA Apollo Pro 133A Chipset (Abit VT6X4)?

First of all, Welcom to the Forum.
And to anwser your question I don't think it will work, the Tualatin has a different input/output signal, the boards that will support the Tualatin will have a T at the end of the part number. Thear is suppose to be a new Iwill board called the DVD266u-r which uses the Pro266T chipset and will support Tualatin. Hope this was helpfull, SP knows more about this than I do, so if I am wrong I am sure he will correct me..

tualatin-cpu's will use a lower voltage as the coppermines so most (if not all) mobos designed for copermines will NOT suport this beauty of cpu-architecture...

Hi
I thought it could work because PC Watch was able to use a Tualatin, the serverversion, on a ASUS TUSL2-C with i815 (i donŽt know witch stepping it was but i know the b-Stepping will work).
I think the lower voltage problem could be solved by using an special adapterboard (Slot1 to FCPGA).

The TUSL (with a T for Tualatin) uses the i815EP B stepping.....otherwise is exacly as the CUSL mobo.
How many people on one post could be more wrong??
I just got a bios update for my vh6 and it supports tualitin, or Coppermine T if ya wanna call it that.
From what i have read so far, almost ALL current coppermine boards will support it, with a simple bios flash.
I have even seen mention, that some BX boards will run em, but ive yet to see any hard evidence of this.
By the way, the vh6 has a via apollo chipset.

YEP thats what i heard as well BIOS flahing will work but you have to have the updated BIOS flash for your MB you will have to check and see if ones avalible for your MB you may check with Placid as he should know about this as well.

I thought CuMine-T's were the cDo stepping Mines, not Tuts.
?
According to via the tualatin cpu will not function properly with the 133a chipset.
If its true or not we can only wait to see when the tualatins become more available.
Via does not say what does not function correctly using the 133a chipset only that the vt82c694t north bridge works correctly and they call the chipset the 133t. It may be one of those it will work unless you try to do this with it type things.
There is a change in some of the pins from the fc-pga-fcpga2 socket.
Best thing is if you want tualatin support for sure that will function bug free is to use a board with fc-pga2 socket and tualatin chipset.

FYI, I just checked the Abit BIOS update site and they don't show an update for the VT6X4 that supports the -T.
Well mebbe once they become more widespread theyll have an update.
Like i said, i have my update, which says it adds compatibility for coppermine T/Tualitin.

Several of the Abit boards do. I've updated my VH6-2 BIOS so it now has T support. Not familiar with the other board, but maybe it's older and they won't offer updates on those.
There is an adapter comming out by http://www.powerleap.com that will allow socket 370 boards to run Tualatins.. its called the neo+ and I will be writting an artical on it in augest.
Currently looking for a couple Tualatins at the moment.

Almost forgot,
you can view a thread I startered here http://www.powerleap.com/ubb/Forum3/HTML/000314.html
At the powerleap site if you wish to keep updated, Paul is very good at answering questions.

I need an update like this for my board too. Can you post the like where you find yours.
Well we need to know what motherboard you have?

@gdog: i have an Abit VT6X4 (http://www.abit-usa.com/eng/product/mb/vt6x4.htm). Why are you asking? I wrote it in my first posting.

You just linked to the latest bios for you mobo in that post.
At the right hand side it says "latest bios"
You get bios's from the ABIT support page under the "bios" button. It will say in the info wether or not it supports Tualatin.
The only existing chipset that will support Tualatin is some of the severworks chipsets. All of the VIA chipsets that will support Tualatin will have a T affixed to the end of the name. So, you'd need a board with a VIA Apollo Pro 266T.
Also, coppermine-T isn't the same as Tualatin. Theoretically boards that support existing coppermines should support Coppermine-T. Coppermine-T should also work in boards that support Tualatin.
According to this (http://www.theinquirer.net/15070102.htm)
the 512K cache 1.13Ghz tualatins will come in at the $300 to $400 range. That's not too expensive when you consider they are targeted at the server market. Remember how expensive Xeons were?
