I am new at the overclocking. Here's what I know. The CPU is detecting at 600 MHz. This is cuz it is unlocked right? The default setting for my Asus A7n8x Deluxe is 100 MHz with a default frequency Multiple of 14.0. What should I change this to? Can I just change the bust speed to 200 MHz? If I do, do I have to change the VCore voltage and if so what too? My memory is running at 200 Mhz but it is DDR 3500 do i just up the voltage a little higher to get it running faster? Finally I am reloading the system, should I do that before I mess with any of it? I realize this is a lot of questions and I really appreciate anyone that can give a new guy some help. Thanks.

Your ram is more than capable of DDR400 so set your cpu initially to 200Mhz FSB. Start with a x10 multiplier and 1.5V. That should tell you if everything's working normally. From there, start upping the multiplier by .5 and when things get unstable, bump the voltage up by .5 or so and retest. Lather, rinse, repeat til you can't get it stable anymore, than back off until you get stability. There's lots of info for you in the FAQ forum. Read some of the other Mobile XP threads (there's tons of them on the first page of this forum) for more info.

Thanks Timzak, I really appreciate it.

OK. I tried that but everytime I do it it and exit the BIOS I lose video. Power off and back on and it says I must enter the BIOS and set CPU correctly. I have 1005 BIOS and I was going to flash it to 1007 that I downloaded from Asus, but I keep seeeing talk on the Asus board about an uber BIOS. Should I just go ahead and flash to the one from Asus? Could it be that it is not detecting my mobile Barton with the older BIOS?

don't touch the vcore, set it to default and try 166x11 at first.
After you set everything up and get it going you can start OCing. Then try upping the vcore to 1.6 and set FSB to 200MHz and multiplier leave at x11, make sure you run your DRAM in sync with the CPU FSB (RAM and FSB ratio of 1:1). and don't use too tight timings, for begining set them to CAS 2.5.

Ok. I am running at 11.5 x 1.6v. Does upping the FSB multiplier automatically overclock my memory as well. I have a SDRAM voltage setting. Is that how I boost my memory speed?

I think you're confused. Changing the voltage doesn't change the speed. CPU speed is the multiplier * FSB. Your memory speed is the same as your FSB. Increasing the voltage is only necessary if it becomes unstable.

OK thanks. Now when I bump it up and it becomes unstable I boost the Vcore right. What about the memory voltage. Does that always stay the same? I think it is 2.5 right now.
