I have a PIII 600e running as an 800eb. I'm sure I can run it faster, but I think I will need to ditch the worthless stock HSF. I have taken it out and looked at it, and have come up against a wall. How do I get those four pin type thingies out? Also, is ~95 degrees F (~35 C) a reasonable temp for running at 800 on a 600?

BTW, 95 degrees is a pretty good temperature. I've already taken the casing off mine, put on an orb, and I still get around 95 degrees with the side of my case removed

95 degrees is pretty darn good...as long as its fahrenheit...also if you do get a new heatsink, a very nice one for a decent price is the GlobalWin VOSG8 before getting it i was stuck at 780 now im running 852 there should be little clip on things on the pins, and something to push down while you pul the clip out....if you have the intel heatsink check out intel.com..i think thats the hardest heatsink to take off

I have already read this. Unfortunantly, PIIIs (or mine at least) don't open the same way as PIIs. Mine is very strange. The shell does not cover the whole processer unit. It's more like two little plastic plates stuck to either flat side with the main board sandwitched in the middle. One plastic plate is just decorative and has the little Intel hologram thingy on it, the other side is a plastic shell with ethe fan embedded in it. I can get this off. Below it is the heat sink. The pins run from the decorative plate through the processer board, and then through the heatsink. They go through the fan housing, but are not attached to it in any way. It's very strange.

As to temps, I've been running this thing at 800 and getting 95 F. I've had it up to 900 at 120 F, but it got pretty unstable running 3dMark (this is all without upping the core voltage. just fiddling with the FSB). The room temp around here is in the low 80s. case temp is usually in the low 90s (I've got a VooDoo 3 3500 that puts out ALOT of heat).

Because it can run well at 900, i'm pretty sure that if I can just dissipate more heat, it'll make 900 easy. If I can get the stupid stock hsf off, I'll be able to do that with an good hsf or water cooling or something. Any help removing the stupid pins would be MUCH appreciated.
