View Full Version : Vmodding a Leadtek ti4400?

Hello all,

I have just recently recieved a Leadtek ti4400 from Gnerma on the forums. He said the core on the card didn't go so high, only 285, and he was right. I've managed to get it up to 300 with a big custom heatsink on the core, keeping the back side cooler plate, and subsequently not using those two fans they have on their cooling system.

I then went ahead and installed a small 30w peltier on the card which is cooling it pretty well(the heatsink while huge is just not big enough to keep the backplate feeling cold, but it seems to work well.) With this I've been able to go to 310(possibly beyond) but 3dmark2001 has 1, sometimes 2 stutter points in the high detail first game test. I am convinced that this is a voltage issue.

Also, Gnerma was only able to get the mem up to 680, and I've gotten it up to 720! with thermaltake regular ram heatsinks on the front and again the back plate, and they do get a little warm during testing<more sign that it was voltage.

So now with 2 fans on the front of the card and one on the back(not too loud really), I would like to turn up the voltage a tad bit on this baby. Also, if you think the 30w pelt just isnt going to cut it, let me know if you think the heatsink alone would do the trick.

I've looked in the forums for Vmoding and i'm just not sure which chip to mod. On the front side I didn't see any voltage regulatin chips, i think, and on the back there are two, 1 big one that has the same number as one of the vmoding thread links, but than there is another smaller one that has been used in other GeForce4 card vmod articles.

So I ask you, is this the right chip, and if so, what are the connect numbers to put a resistor on again? (could it be different for different cards?)

Thanks all, and see pics below for pics of the setup.
