View Full Version : Antec TruePower 430W... Will it run this rig?
Alrighty... I'm looking to run all of this hardware:
Intel P4 2.8C
Asus P4C800-E Deluxe
Sapphire Radeon 9800PRO 128MB
WD 80GB SATA
Corsair TWINX1024-3200C2PRO (1GB, 2x512)
Lite-On 52x32x52x16 CD-RW/DVD-ROM
All in a Thermaltake Xaser III LanFire (2000A)
And of course the Antec TruePower 430W PS. How well do you all think this PS will run my PC? I would think it's enough, but should I go for more? If so, what would you recommend and should I stick with Antec?

taht should be plenty for the rig you have listed
Awesome, thanks a bunch! :)
*EDIT* Oh, I was also wondering about how the PS performs even though it doesn't have PFC... Does PFC really make that big a difference?

PFC provides more efficient Power Frequency. So if you can get it do so it is well worth it, way less power loss

The 430 will do fine. PFC means more to cleaning up the local power grid than it does to the computer, and unless you're billed as an industrial power consumer; PFC is not that important. Here's a big long article on the subject if you're up to some reading: http://www.dansdata.com/gz028.htm

Great PSU Ive gotten no problems with it at all. Runs a little hot and the fans dont run at full speed 95% of the time so i modded it so they do and my case temp has went down as well as my CPU idle and about 1-2C off of load. Plus keeping it a little cooler might prolong its life and its worth the little bit of extra noise.

Ahh theres a link floating around somewhere ill look for it and try to get it up here. BTW this voids the warranty unless you can successfully take the sticker off and put it back on because you have to take the cover of the PSU off. Basically what you do is unplug the fan plugs from the PSU's "mobo" and re-route them to go out of the PSU case with all of the other wires. This leaves you with 2 fan connectors that you need to just hook up. There is a small peice of plastic on there you need to trim off for it to fit well with a fan connector to molex adapter but its no big deal. Thats my ghetto description hope you can figure it out cause finding this link might take ahwhile.
