View Full Version : Did I get a bad CPU
I have a ASUS P2B rev 1.02, ASUS S370-L CPU card and Cel 633MHz. I had to set the voltage to 1.8 before it POST, I think that is the min voltage for my board. Can some one verify that. I could increas the FSB to 83.3MHz with a voltage of 1.9V However, to put the FSB to 100MHz I had to increase the voltage to 2.3V. The only problem I am having is without added case fans the added heat from my video card would overheat the prcessor. BTW at 2.2V processor would do incrrect math after about 2 hours of benching.

2.2V is really high
The default for that chip is 1.7 or 1.75 V

Actually, Batboy corrected me on this. Its either 1.7 or 1.5 depending on your stepping.

Either way, 2.2V is way high.

1,85V should be the higher with normal cooling..

I would check your BIOS and make sure your settings are all rite, if there are fine then maybe you did get a bad one if so take it back but i would not tell anyone you were running with such a high CV I would not recommend running your CPU with 2.2CV even with extreme cooling as you'll most likely end up with toast, keep your CV as low as possible. I would definatly keep an eye on temps, also you might want to read through the tips section and get yourself a good background on overclocking before you start getting crazy. honestly i think your lucky if you have not already ruined your new CPU.
goodluck
