Well, my current psu is WHining due to me drawing more power with my new a64 rig. Its a enermax 465 and its good but it whines and its damn annoying. With me upgrading all my componets to top of the line i want a psu thats top of the line, so im pretty much asking all of you guys to convince me to get a pc power and cooling 510 deluxe, i can sleeve and i have the molex remover since i sleeved this enermax. But i dont want to void any warrentys anymore due to the amount of cash new stuff costs lol!
Im looking for people that actually have this psu to tell me how great it is not people to go ahead and say "fortron" , "antec" or somthing like that im talking this psu and asking how good it really is.

Pc power and cooling could very well be the best psu on the market.:)

From just switching to this beast i gained more stability at my overclock. Before Prime95 would error out about 12-18hrs on my TruPower 480w. Now i can run Prime95 for days! That alone is worth the added cost of the PSU.

Each rail is adjustable so you can fine tune the PSU to the board.
Voltage regulation is top notch.
High, quality current.
650W if you compare it to other PSUs

Only annoyance when the load goes up is that it can get louder than your 'average' PSU. The fan is variable so its not all the time.

Otherwise i would definately not hesitate and buy it again. Great investment!

:attn: Stare at my banging head...there, you are convinced. PC Power and Cooling psu's are great, no question about it.

I agree, they were very nice to me when I called to check status the next day after ordering. I received my psu two days from the time I ordered it.

I was surprised at the quick delivery myself!

I remember ordering the PSU on a weekend and getting it on a Wednesday. I live in. Toronto so that is very fast service!

Scanido, can you give us a bit more detail on what you meant by "High, quality current"?

well lets see, the +12v rail alone has 34A w/ 38A peak. You get 1% regulation on ALL rails with PFC to filter out voltage ripples. Sometimes it's not just about the wattage rating but the quality and preasure of the power being delivered thats important!

They have a New 425W Deluxe that's easier on the wallet.

I have one also. I got mine from excaliberpc.com, and I'm nothing but impressed. All the cables came very nicely organized and cabled VERY well. Plus it came fitted with SATA power cables for my raptors.
All I can say is if you want the absolute best PSU they make, the 510 deluxe is probably it.

If you want to save a little cash, the TP480 and TP550 from Antec are both very good PSUs as well..

I've got my eye on the Turbo-Cool 350. It's "only" $71. Figure it should outperform most 500W+ rated power supplies, even by good brands.

It was mentioned once but I want to put the 1% power regulation into context. Most PSUs have a 5% power regulation tolerance. This means your 5v line can be as low as 4.75v and be within spec. Antec TruPower PSUs regulate the rails within 3% so the acceptable limit is raised to 4.85v. The PCP&C unit, if it drops below 4.95v is out of spec. What does that mean to you? It means your rails are going to be much more stable which means the power being delivered to your machine is more consistent. That's what you pay for.

Pros:
You will not find a better PSU out there. It should take everything you toss at it and laugh at you.

Cons:
The fan is loud and they run hot.

OMFG that thing is monster compared to enermax which i have right now, my psu is ok but it wont stop WHINING and with a box like mine i want to let it fold overnight and i just cant sleep whith a high pitched whine, with the Turbo 510d i think it will solve alot of probs and random reboots. Im gonna go for the 510d instead of 425d b/c im going to be running close to 8 hds and alot more :) and its upgrade friendly heheh

i mean if ur spending 200+ for a qulaity psu, why not spend a few more bux for just a bit higher quality?

i wish i had one ...

Digital Cowboy and Scanido, question for the two of you. Using the 510 Deluxe what does MBM report for the +3.3, +5 and +12 volt rails?

Using my Antec True 480 I get the following:
+3.3 = 3.22
+5 = 4.92
+12 = 11.80

These are NOT load readings either.

Thanks in advance for the reply.

Dont use MBM, use a multimeter. You mobo could be reading them wrong, and your mobo might be dropping the volts down.

I think my mobo maybe the culprit, however; I read another users post that switched to the 510 Deluxe and had consistant readings on the 3, 5 and 12v rails. I would like to validiate that claim with anothers users real world experience before I buy.

With my multimeter my Rails are as follows:
+3.3 = 3.29
+5 = 5.02
+12 = 11.92

AIDA32 reports:
+3.3 = 3.28
+5 = 5.03
+12 = 11.97

averages between those readings and the zero mark.

That's while running Photoshop, all my hdd, etc.

All three of those readings are the worst ones I recorded during a 5 minute time period. That's an average of 0.45% regulation under load. They are rated at 1% regulation. It's expensive but well worth it when iron clad stability is the goal. Besides, they look dang cool with their neat and clean wiring and I love the serial ATA power connectors.

Digital_Cowboy, would you describe the 510 Deluxe as loud? I ordered earlier today and I think I should have had them swap the fan out. Reading the specs, 34-44 db's seems loud.

I got another question, is 20a enough for future upgrades....? Im thinkin about going with the 425delux bc its cheaper and still sexy, but is 20a continuious or is it max...?

I went out to their warehouse today and picked one up. This thing is built like a rock. I am very impressed with the build, sleeving, and the overall look/feel of this unit. I've only had it in a few hours now, but so far rails look great, much better than my last 2 PSU's. I'm hoping this will be my last ever PSU upgrade, at least for a few years anyways. Their warehouse is much larger than i was expecting, very busy out there it seemed, glad i was able to get it at will call.

Yes, it's loud with the stock fan. I removed it and replaced it with a silent 80mm fan as well as attaching an AMD HSF to the front of the PSU. It's much quieter now and still stays cool(33-36 C)

I know that the 510 Deluxe 34A rating is continuous (38A Max) So I would assume the same for the 425.

DC, two questions: How did you measure the temps and what kind of fan did you replace the stock fan with?

Looking at the picture above the fan looks like it would be easy to replace.

Digital_Cowboy
03-16-04, 02:53 PM
I measured the temps with my multimeter, just placed the diode on the heatsink while it was running at full load.

I replaced the fan with a Coolermaster Fan. and the AMD fan I previously spoke of. Just soldered them together and then to the little harness wires that were previously attached to the PCP&C Fan. then I heat shrinked it all and that's it.

DC, thanks again brother...So you are running two fans?

SK8, I really don't want to have to go in there. I can hear my wife now "Doc, I don't know what happend. I heard him scream and then all I heard was a big thud."

Hopefully, I will not consider it loud.
