Ok, need a little help again here. But first I'll list the system specs.
-Asus P3V4X, Celeron 800, MSI slotket, realtek 10/100 net card, Voodoo3 2500 AGP, creative DVD encore decoder (DX-R2 DVD drive), Creative 48X cdrom (Panasonic I think), SoundBlaster Live! (Value), OEM high cap heatsink and fan, 256M Apacer ram x2(Infineon chips).
Now here's the problem. I can't get the damned thing to go past 922 now. I had the thing stable at 1066 for two weeks, was so sweet I couldn't belive it. I restart one day to dump all the crap in memory, and while it's booting, I get an error message. The Vcore voltage is too high. So I go into the bios, and sure enough it's higher than what I set it to (I set it to 1.85V). Now the thing is, that this isn't the first time I've had this problem. I had it as well with my Cel 400, but I thought it was because I had accidentaly shorted the cpu while installing a temperature monitor (home made as per hoot's article). The Cel 400 is a slot1, no adapter. I've tried changing everything except for the MB, and power supply. I think it's the PSU causing the problem, but I'm not 100% sure. right now, I have a 235W PSu, in a inwin mid-tower. I'm getting a a Aopen full tower (HT08 ), and switching the PSU that comes with it with an enermax 300W. I'm just waiting for the Enermax PSU that is backordered. I figure I might as well spend the extra $40 and move up to a full tower, instead of getting just the PSU. If it isn't the PSU, anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be? Should I be shopping for a new MB?

The motherboard controls the core CPU voltage, not the power supply. Plus, get rid of that crappy HSF and get something that will actually cool halfway decent when you're overclocked.

I know it's a crappy heatsink, but I accidentally knocked my alpha off my desk while I was playing inside the system last week. Put a huge dent/gouge in the mating surface, and it's too deep to file out. So I'm waiting for another alpha, untill then I'm stuck with the spare crappy stuff I have lying around.

i have the P3V4X, and a crappy 235 watt psu, i also have problems with vcores higher than what i set, but i dont care that much (i cant get much speed so im running a 1.65V)it appears as 1.7, oh well, maybe for 12 bucks i can get a decent 300watt psu

I'm not sure about how you're getting higher vcore than what you set it at. It could be a lack of constant voltage due to your power supply, but I'm not sure it could result in higher volages. I used to have problems running at 650 MHz with 2.4 vcore (it's a katmai), then I swapped my 250 Watt cheap power supply for an Enermax 350 Watt supply. Now I can run at 2.4 V reliably, and my voltages have been more accurate and stable ever since.
