View Full Version : Stable and then unstable?

Okay, you can read my system information in my signature, if you need more than just ask.

Alright, I was running my P3 700 @ 1050Mhz @ 1.85v for 2 weeks, extremely stable. I could run games such as Quake 3, Counter-Strike, Unreal Tournament, and run SisoftSandra Burn-In Wizard. My average full load temp was around 42c and it was stable at that.

Now, I boot up my computer and I don't get any errors, but when I play the games, THAT'S when I get errors. My computer crashes after 5 minutes of Counter-Strike. It's not my temperature, I know that. So I had to increase my voltage from 1.85v to 1.90v. Now all the errors stopped, it's as stable as can be now.

But I am just wondering why it ran for 2 weeks, perfectly stable, and one day I have to increase my voltage to 1.90v.

Any ideas? Thanks...

Tough question, i got my CPU hot once [too hot trying a different way to burn in] and i lost ground and mine was unstable and at the time i could not raise CV so i had to clock back down, 42C is a little warm have you tried cooling it down a little maybe airconditioning to get ambient temps down and then checked to see if its stable with 1.85? might be worth trying, if my CPU gets to 35C i can expect crashes or a frozen screen. some guys have reported your problem but they reapplied AS on there HSF and it helped, one guy said he just touched his HSF and his temps went up just slightly regained his stability by upping CV then realized he squished out the thermal compound when he moved his HSF, sorry this may not be the same but since its a tough question i'm just throwing stuff out.

I feel your pain. I'm in much the same boat. Stable at 132/132/44 but not 133/133/133. WTF? My temps are the same as yours. Similar cooling and a thermalright SK6 with a 50mm hi speed fan.
XP couldn't be the problem could it? I'm running ME.

Thanks for the help guys. I'll try reapplying AS, I never thought of that. No, I don't think it's Windows XP because this started when I was using ME.

I have another question. You guys know about the Asus probe that you say can be up to 10C off. Is it up to 10C off under the BIOS hardware monitor, or under the Windows PCProbe Hardware Monitor. Thanks
