I read on another forum that people seem to have the best experience with catalyst 3.7 for the radeon 9800pro. Anyone have anything to contribute to this? The post on the other forum was dated and I was wondering if its still true or if it ever was.

Also does anyone here use riva tuner? Some peeps seem to think its the best but I suppose its the same with everything. Even if something sucks it will have some fanboys.

Day to day, I use Cat 3.7 & Rage3DTweak to make clock changes.

Best benching drivers? Omega Cat 3.4's.

Do the 3.4's even have support for the 9800?

Anyways, I prefer the 4.2's

Day to day, I agree I think the 4.2s are the best. Yes, you can get all the cats to load on a 9800. You have to download a patch that you can find at xtremesystems so they recognize the card. If its benching you're looking for then I'd say 4.2 for 3dmark03, 3.7 or 3.8 for Aquamark3, and 3.1 or 3.2 plus DX8.1 for 2001se.

WOW hurray I love ati tool now.

My aqua mark total score was gfx 1k cpu 4k and total 14k before I used it.

My card must have been way down cause now I just redid it after running mem and core max find thingy and scored 6k gfx and 9k computer total 44k AMAZING diffrence.

I think the new driver helped alot cause my over clock is low its only 400/375 still a good improvement but I think the drivers helped cause thats a crazy diffrence.
Im using cat 4.1b I think it is, whatever is on atis site as current.

Cant wait till i get my vga silencer and ocz sinks.
OOOOOO fun fun silly willy.

Overclocking is crack and im hooked now. AHHHHHHHHHHH
I might buy another computer just to tweak it MUAhAHAHAHha.

3.7 were the only ones for me that AA in Madden2004 worked in. I've now started using 4.2 as I can Alt-Tab in and out of the game which fixes the AA. Not ideal but it saves me having to use the OpenGL set out of 4.2 with the 3.7 so Call of Duty runs OK.

Right now I'm on the 3.8s. They make a *huge* (1400pt) difference in Aquamark (vs 3.9s and 4.1/4.2s). All my games work with the 3.8s, so I'm sticking with them. I always try out the latest driver set though, and performance differences between driver sets are on such a computer-computer basis that it's worth trying everything out yourself. I know thats not what you want to hear, but if you want the highest benchies/most performance, then its what you've got to do.

Catalyst 3.2 is the best for directx 8.1 benchmarks....for directx 9.0 get the latest Catalyst

The most recent is 4.2 right? Playing counterstrike, the 4.2 would be dark even if all settings were set to brightest. I switched to the 3.7's and now brightness are correct. Who knows...

If you are asking what driver is the best for benching and games...

3.7's with DX 8.1
4.2's with DX9

3.7's score higher in 3d mark 01 then the 4.2'
4.2's will score higher in 03 then the 3.7's

Now if you want to know which has the best IQ...then the 4.2's

I really dont req. to use the ATI CAT's..use the Omega CAT's...the Omegas are faster and have better IQ in both flavors...3.7's and 4.2's...
