how do i spin down a HDD windowsME cant see?

i have a linux drive in my test box, and its all ext3. Winme cant see it, but it still spins. Will it shut off with the fat32 drive or what?

Yes, it knows its there, it just can't manipulate any files on it due to the partition.

I sometimes use Win98 with a few NTFS drives installed, and those dont show up, but they do turn off when I shutdown.

yea, but id like the drive to spindown after like so many mins of no usage...i mean why wear on it if its not going to be used? like say i leave my machine on for a day or two?
