Hows it goin?

Ok im going for a mobile xp chip, but im not sure what to pick so hopefully u can help.

I have a choice between a :

xp2400-m 266fsb
xp2600-m Barton 266fsb
xp2800-m Barton 266fsb

and the xp3000-m ( getting a bit costly )

U will have noticed that i havent included the 2500 because i cant find anyone in the UK that has one! unless u can help me there?

How long do u think these chips will be around?

Cheers

either the 2400 or 2600 are clocking the same around 2.6 to 2.8Ghz

now for the 2800 i have not seen and results from them, did theink they where going to be out till june.

so id pick either the 2400 or 2600. will save some money for other upgrades

get the barton core. i didn't believe it, but there are many performance differences between the barton and thoroughbred cores. the 2600+ sounds good.

I clocked my Mobile Barton to the same speed as my previous TbredA and at the same clock speed it was about 5% faster in Quake3. Not exactly a huge difference for an additional 256kb cache.

Cheers for your help :)
I might just go with the 2400, its seem good value!
I was gonna also get 2x256mb Corsair XMS3200LLPT TwinX (2x256MB) Platinum CAS2.
Would that be good enough for a half decent clock?
Its all gonna be runnin in a dfi lanparty nf2

Cheers guys

That ram should handle up in the neighborhood of 200+ FSB. Se the multi up to 12.5 and you can top out around 2500mhz if the voltage and cooling, are good, and the chip you get is one of the great ones.

Its only the 2500 that runs at 1.45 all others run at 1.65 from what ive read.

No, that's wrong. XP-M2400, 2500, and 2600 all default to 1.45V

XP-M2800 and 3000 DTR's default to 1.65V

if you can... if you want to... try the m-2400xp 1st...

Got two from ewiz.com (newegg and another sites sells them as well)
1st one is running @ v2.08core 12.5x217 2.714GHz.... not a bad little mobile chip if you ask me.
on air with SP-97 HS and smartfan 2
