When I have EMIII open and right click on the little picture of the current molacule and go to calculate points my WU's are usually worth 13-33 pts.
I have read of 70 pointers and such. Am I missing out on some huge points or what? Is this normal?
Also, how can I tell if I have a Gromac or a Tinker? I hear there is a BIG difference in these units.
Current systems and WU's running
P4 3.0GHZ HT
--Thread 1--
p563_BBA5_ext (18pts)
--Thread 2
p520_BBA5_pf (33pts)
XP 1800+
p563_BBA5_ext (18pts)
That info is from EIII and is also repeted in the log.
Any help would be great.. I just don't want to be missing out on easy points!

They are all Gromacs.
How to tell from Windows? Ctrl-Alt-Delete and go to Task Manager, then Processes.
If "FahCore_65.exe" is running it's a Tinker. if "FahCore_78.exe" is running it's a Gromac.

Another way to tell within EMIII is the little monitor that is on the main screen. Blue = gromac, Green = tinker, Yellow = trouble, red = not working, also you can look here

Actually, the smaller point WU's will fold faster than the larger point ones, I can get a 30 point WU done in a matter of 24 hours on my 1.2 celeron, whereas a 50 point WU can take 48 hours.
The 70 pointers are 99% tinkers, which don't use SSE, and fold extremely slow.

18's aren't bad on my 3DNow only rig, the larger 60's take over 4 days. The 36.6 pointers give me the best PPW on the AMD and P4 rigs using SSE. The 70 point tinkers suck, period, the 70 point gromac is okay but you can do 2+ 36 pointers in the time it takes to do a 70 point gromac.

I concur with Fast420A. I'll take those 36.6 pt ones all day long :D

I concur also, those are sweet WU's for both chips :)

How silly. You guys are complaining about a 60 taking 4 days, while my puny 333 has finished 142/400 frames on it's first WU in only 19 days!!
The good news is that it is on pace to finish the WU easily by the April 6 deadline.

At least it's folding! :D Thanks for your contributions. Have you ever tried a Gromac on that 333? With it running 24/7 it may complete gromacs faster than tinkers since there are less frames even though the frames do take a little while, some of my older borgs were P200's and P166 that did better 24/7 on the gromacs than on the tinkers. You may want to try adding the -advmethods flag to the shortcut and restart after this WU completes.

This is the first fold I have ever done. This work unit is the one that downloaded and I don't remember getting a choice on which one to work on. I'll have to read up on some the install stuff in the stickies and figure out what I need to do to get a Gromac.
After I get my new system built, this rig will go into my sons room for games, but won't have internet connection. I'll let it fold until it's almost done with the WU and throw it on the router for a few hours to transmit info and get new WU's. That way I'll have the 2500 and the 333 folding 24/7.

My P4 just received one of them 70 pointers yesterday. 23 minutes per frame.. WHAMMO! talk about frame times for 2.8 HT machine. I wonder how those 100 pointers do, 30 minutes per frame?
I prefer those 30-40 pointers any day to those 23 mpf babies.

My 33 pointers are finishing at 9min per frame x 2 on the 3.0GHZ HT... and 8 mins per frame on a XP1800+. I had a pair of 33 pointers doing about 7 min per frame yesterday on the HT.
Thanks for the responses..

My HT P4 was doing an average of 16:47 on half the processor and 15:52 on the other half and my Watercooled rig is currently doing 11:00 on this 70.77 pointer.
