View Full Version : Celeron 600@900 no more, read for more info

Greetings All,

My Celeron 600 will no longer overclock to 900 MHz after a recent memory upgrade. I upgraded to 1024MB (4-Crucial 256MB PC133 Cas2 ECC) from 256MB (1-Crucial 256MB PC133 Cas2). Now my Celeron 600 can't go pass 674@1.7Volts without problems, before the memory upgrade it would go as high as 945@1.95Volts (unstable in games) and 900@1.9Volts (rock stable). Here are my current specs.

Enlight EN-8902 server case with bundled Enlight 300W PSU and 4 Sunon fans

I bought 1024MB of memory because it's currently cheap and I'm considering making this pc a future in home server. Could the problem be the 300W PSU, I know there are a lot of devices draining it. I want to be back at 900MHz again but I don't want to drop any memory or upgrade my PSU, unless as a last resort. Any suggestions or helpful info would be greatly appreciated.

I would also blame the PSU. You can try using a more powerful one, but don't rush buying one. If your friend has something more than 300 watts, try using his/her, because I'm not 100% sure it will fix the problem.

You have kinda answered your own question as when adding more then one or two sticks of memory you can bring on instability, not only that but anything over 256 for Winme is overkill ive heard of people that change there swap files around to manage it but most of the time people with a so much memory as you are running 2000 Winme is not designed to run with so much and it actualy hurts performance.
