This is not a question of how hot is too hot its a question of can a Celeron run at the same temps of a P/// for long points of time and not degrade the life span of the chip

I'm under the impression that a celeron will run as long as a P3 at the same temps. same core and manufacturing process. The life of a CPU generally is much longer than its use anyway though. Thinking of my P166, P2 266, and celeron 500 all sitting in a drawer right now waiting for enough spare parts to find their way back into action.

don't let it get above 50C to be safe. Under that and the chip will be ok, don't know about stability. Getting 40C and under temps are not hard on a celey though.

Or as I posted under Celeron vs P/// post, if you prefer to get your info straight from intel...
This is their web page of certain specs for Celerons (all versions).
http://www.intel.com/support/processors/sspec/icp.htm
It also includes the Celeron 900 which has a temp rating of 77C.
