Getting HS off a slot 1 cpu

How can I get this HS off my cpu? It's a PIII, Compaq OEM. I'm not too handy with slot cpu's, so I thought I'd ask so I don't crush the core trying. It seems to be held onto the back of the cpu by 4 plastic pins, but how do I remove them?

Take a case screw.
Put it pointy side up on a flat surface (table).
Put one of the pin holes over the screw and then push down until you feel it pop.
Then do the other 3 the same way.
