What are you going to use it for? Games? or prog's like AutoCad, StudioMax?
If Games I'm sure you don't wana pay $3,000 just for a video card! ATi 9800XT will be more then enough.
I can't say much on the difference as I've never used one, but I don't think $3 G's worth it :)...
if you're gaming then no, if your running a lot of proffesional 3d applications, solidworks, mechanical desktop, etc then yeah, the FX 3000 is the workstation version of the 5900U I belive so on gaming it's performace should be fairly simialar though it would do much better than the 5900U on openGL games.

Okey, I've made up my mind. After doing some research I've decided not to get that card because I find useless in my use. So what i will do is that i will get the Gainward Geforce FX 5950 Ultra and that 1 GB of ram i always wanted. (I need some info on some ram but i'll post that sperately in memory section), and Mach cooling unit for my cpu. I just wonder if they make something like that VGA and Chipsets. If they did it would be awesome. I would o/c the video card to the its maximum with that kind of cooling.

Get a 9800 pro, they fair better, this isn't a biased opinion, this is the consensus of the board.

so ATI 9800 Pro is better is Gainward Geforce FX 5950u.
as when i looked Gainward has 500mhz ram clock and 1ghz memory clock. and ati is 412mhz and i can't recall the memory clock
According to the core clock and mem clock which would perform better.
just because one is clocked higher means absolutely nothing.
My Barton 2500+M clocked at 2.55ghz is faster than a 3.2ghz P4 in almost all benchies... but the Mhz are very different.
When making such purchases dont just rely on what number is bigger. Look at benchmarks and reviews on websites. And listen to people who use them day to day. There is a ton more to these cards then just mhz.
And more expensive doesnt mean better either.
