Okay i have a pentium 3 Katmai with a Biostar M6TBA version 1.3. I really think this thing is impossible to overclock. There is no way to change the fsb, i am in the dark here. I didnt build this sytem. It is an inteva. Its about 2 years old and i just had it laying around. If anyone has any ideas that would be great, thanks. I dont want to overclock it that much, just get a little extra performance out of it for seti. Thanks

are you sure that there is no way?....look at the motherboard manual and itll probably have jumpers to change the fsb....also try softfsb if that doesnt work

The M6TBA is crap! The only way I could overclock it is by using CPUFSB. I wouldn't expect much. The highest FSB I could get was 112. It could probably go higher if it had a /4 divider

okay thanks, i would assume cpufsb is a program so i am gonna go look for that now. The extra speed should help me out a little bit. Do you think the stock hsf with artic silver can handle the extra heat. I am good with watercooling, but when it comes to heat sink fan combos i dont know ****.

Considering you won't get very much, yes. It may get a bit warm, but nothing that would severely damage it

Hey dude, there are a few topics on this board that apply to the Katmai. I would suggest searching for them and they will give you good insight on what you're up against. You didn't specify what kind of Katmai you had. Some the the Katmai topics were posted by me. I have a PIII 500, now O/c'd to 675. Your motherboard is essentially your system. It sounds like you may need to buy a board with some better bus and voltage selections. Don't worry about the multiplyer, since the Katmai is locked at 5.

Nah its cool, i'm not gonna spend any money on this especially a new motherboard because all its gonna do is sit in the basement and crunch numbers for seti. I was just trying to get a little extra performance out of it, which i have accomplished sucessfully and its 100 percent stable. And i am aware not new to overclocking as i currently have my new system watercooled and overclocked to a rock sold 1.7@2125. Just i had no idea how to start on a peice of crap like the m6tba. Thanks for your help guys

If the software does not help you out your best bet for better performance is to add memory if you can, i know now that the price is rite. Also there are some programs so that you can enable 4 way interleave this will help out the most more so then a slight change in FSB which is all you will get with software. If you have a few BIOS options check out www.rojakpot.com and go through there BIOS guide theres allot of usefull info.
