View Full Version : Overclocking Info...
I need any info on overclocking a Celeron (300 mhz) and a Pentium 2 (350 mhz). Such information as what the best speeds I could get, etc would be good. I will be using an Abit WB6 mainboard. http://www.abit-usa.com for into on the mainboard. Thanks Everyone!! :-)

Well have you read the section on the front page? Overclocking an Intel chip is overclocking an Intel chip. The Multiplier is clock so you have to go for the FSB. Here read this http://www.overclockers.com/topiclist/index20.asp#OVERCLOCKING EXPERIENCES AND TIPS"
I appreciate your selective sarcasm but I do not have a great deal of time for research...that's why I post and hope someone has done what I am wanting to do. :-)

Sarcasm it was not I was trying to help you out if you don't feel like learning that would be your own thing I just thought it would be something that could help you from making a mistake. If you don't have time to research then why do you even want to get into computers it is something that requires a lot of time and effort on your part. If you don't put forth that effort then you will never get anywhere.
Ok buddy, my definition of your help as selective sarcasm
was indeed sarcasm myself. The reason I do not have a great deal of time is b/c I am studying extensively for the A+ Exam. Good enough reason wouldn't you say? Basically, I know how to overclock b/c a majority is basic knowledge under A+
and have, just want extra info from people with the same specs. You want to tell me about research and the time it takes?? I spend 1/4 of my day researching over the internet with computer related topics and interests so until you know me...don't tell me about **** I don't want to hear from you. Oh, thank you for the help though! :-)AmbientFiction (Jul 22, 2001 04:33 p.m.):

I think we got off on the wrong foot here man. I too am working on A+ and soon to be starting on my Network systems course in the fall. I was only trying to help. The fact is their are many people that come through here and don't even read any of the Faqs on the main page.

those article are not long and technically difficult at all to understand. You really should read them, they don't take long. Overclocking is usually just not flip switch a to get result C. Its a time consuming thing that you are constantly tinkering around with to solve.
You're right, I think we have gotten off on the wrong foot also. No, I have read many of the articles, extensively in fact! :-) I can understand how some ppl do not read the faq's b/c I was about to make my first post until I thought about reading them like crazy! Lol, I have gotten some great idea's for the overclocking and am just waiting right now until I get my new motherboard (in the next few days). Have you overclocked anything? If so, what did you get it to? Hey, no hard feelings? Lol!

I do read them, and have. I probably have read several of them 2 or 3 times in the fast few days. Lol, I mean, I really do not want to fry up anything! :-)

raise your FSB until it gets unstable then raise CV to your CPU to regain stability then try upping FSB again repeat this procces until you do not make any more headway. Remember heat is the enemy and how far you get depends on how cool your system is if you go raising CV and you dont have sufficent cooling then you will be taking steps backwards.
Such information as what the best speeds I could get, etc would be good.
Since all CPU's MB's and PCI cards as well as harddrives act differently to running out of spec speeds there are no real answers the only way to find out is to try and see how far you get.
