OK my processor use to run 78 degrees idle overclocked with no voltage raise, then today I took out my processor to use the canned air to get all the dust off. Then I reinseted it and now it is getting up to 90 degrees!! I know the pentium can run safely to like 110ish, but why did the temps go up?? DO I have to re-burn in the chip since I removed it from the slot?? HElp me out guys. PLEASE
Do you have any thermal grease?
and What kind of chip do you have? (whats the speed)
EDIT: here is a site which will tell you the max temp your CPU can hold.
http://www.heatsink-guide.com/maxtemp.htm
Probably the heatsink is not making as good of contact with the core as before or the thermal compound is not as well applied as before.
I know sometimes when I use artic silver my temps go up a bit maybe 2-5f then after about 1-2 hrs. it goes back down.
I have no idea why it does this and it does not always happen.
But going from 78 to 90 is quite a change.
Burning in the cpu is only a one time thing and only effects the cpu cells internally so you wont have to do it again.
