View Full Version : Overclocking Terms
Ok, the specs of my Celeron are in the picture attachment. Tell me, what does this mean in overclocking terms...what kind's of speed can I expect...Around 450 maybe?

Hi brianm,
Yes, with a good Mobo that supports 100Mhz of Fsb or more (like i440Bx), a good cooler, like Alpha P3125 or Globalwin vos32, and a thin layer of thermal paste, you can probably (depends by your chip) OC it to 450Mhz or more!
Look the Cpu DataBase for more info about OC chance your chip and voltages.
I hope it helps you :-)

Theres allot of luck involved when trying to max out a CPU some will do great while others will fall on there face, theres other factors as well such as your harddrive, memory, PCI cards and the biggest your MB [motherboard] your best bet at this point is to read through the tips section and get a good background as theres a little more to this then raisng FSB and CV remember cooling is the key to a succeful overclock and if you live in a place with high ambient temps then its going to make it harder on you. Also check the CPU database and see what others have gotten there CPU's too and how they did it. You might find that if you have to spend money on cooling and better components that it may be better or cheaper to buy a faster CPU, if you do read enough you may find enough tricks though to keep you from spending allot of dough.

He has a Celeron 300. I doubt that he's gonna see a 100Mhz FSB unless he modifies the B-21 trace.
450 is an easy overclock on the 300. 500 should be attainable. If your board is good and you get some extreme cooling, 600 has been reached before. This chip, in my opinion is the overclock king. 100% overclocks are common on this chip with the proper setup.
