Hi guys,
Right now I've got 2 no name sticks of 512MB PC2700 hooked up to my rig (P4 2.4b @ 2.8, Asus P4P800 deluxe). I'm thinking about upgrading the memory and I want to check on what my best route would be. I'm looking to spend under $200. Would it be a good idea to buy a dual-pack(2x256) of DDR400 RAM and slap it in the dual channel slots? Do you guys have any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Go for the dual channel. But if you're going to be getting some don't get less RAM than you already have.

So it's not worth scrapping the 1 Gig of slower RAM for the faster 512MB of RAM in dual channel?

I don't think so. There is a performance increase when you run in dual channel but it's not worth cutting your RAM in half for.

Would you still say the same thing if I had 1 gig of PC2100 right now? I'm just curious to see how the logic goes even though I agree with what you're saying.
