View Full Version : Celery Above 2.1v... Advisable?
im currently running my C633@950. Didn't dare to try to crank it up to above 1GHz due to the high voltage currently running (1.95v). any suggestions?
BTW... i'm running a (noisy) FOP38. thanx!

I think pushing the core that hard is not good but this is a better post for Intel CPU.

some celerons have a 2.0 Vcore, and i used to run my celeron at 2.2 Volts, so i would give it a try
EDIT: The 0686h Celeron 633 has a max voltage of 12.7 while the 068Ah has a max voltage of 13
EDIT 2: the termination voltage is 2.7 so i wouldnt exceed that
I definately wouldnt go higher than 2.0.
I wouldn't go above 2 volts either. I haveseen reported in a few places that damage starts to occur at around 2.1 volts. Voltage is not constant, it does fluctuate a little and can also run a tad on the high side so be sure to check what you are actually running at. Many bioses have voltage monitoring in them.
I have found the C2's to be pretty rough. I have a 566 that I bought when they first came out and it has been running at 1.9v ever since. It runs at 1020mhz except for in the summer when things get a little toasty I back it down to 970mhz.

It really depends on your temps if there not that hot then you may be OK but it does start getting risky at higher CV so there is a little gambling going on. I'm running my p3 at 2.1 with no problems what so ever but thats my CPU not yours, every CPU even the same make will act differently towards high CV. If i were you i would try 2.0 first and see how things are going and if you need more then 2.05 i would not jump rite up to 2.10. Remember your gambling but the odds are in your favor. Check the CPU database and see what others are doing with your CPU and what kind of CV there running to get to those higher MHZ.

WHOA, WHOA, where did you get those numbers?!?!?! Max vcore of 12.7v?!? no no no..
Celerons/2.0v... yes, the older PPGA Celerons had vcore settings of this, but this is a Coppermine chip. These have default vcore settings ranging from 1.5v to 1.7v, depending on the stepping. The cC0 chips run at the 1.7v default, and all others cB0, cA0, etc.. range from 1.5 to 1.65v.
Going above 2.0v isn't recommended, especially if it ISN'T a cC0 chip. 2.0v is a bit high, even for those, but if cooling is more than adaquate, 2.0v is right at the edge of reason.
I still wouldn't go over 2.0v though. I have, without ill effect, but it will shorten the life of the chip dramatically, and possibly fry it. GO OVER 2v AT ONE'S OWN RISK...=)
Mr B
mr b is right. your crazy.
celeron 1's had a default of 2v. celeron 2's have a default of either 1.5 or 1.7 and should not go above 2v.
