I did it OCed a p2 300 SL2W8
in a Gigabyte GA-686LX4 mobo. Bumped jumpers up to 75 from 66. Runs great 34C to 36C idle to 37C to 40C loaded. It reports at 338 or 340. Good cooling going on in case and dual fans with good sink on cpu. Question is do I dare go up to 83 FSB? This is kind of addicting! I read here that the mobo won't run at 100 though but should I try the 83? Heard the cpu can do 450 or higher. Volts are locked in anyway and I don''t plan on the tape the pins trick. But who thinks it'll do 83?

Hi Face,
Generally it's dangerous to work with 83Mhz of Fsb, coz it generate an higher, and not standard Pci Freq. (41.65Mhz!) that can give more probs with Pci card & old Hd with possible Fat corruption!
But onestly, I worked with it for a while with my C2 600 and an IBM DTLA 307030 Ata100 7200Rpm without probs.

I hope it helps you :-)

try taping the pins and rasisng the voltage, that way u might be able to go beyond 83

about 99% of the SL2W8's do 450MHz.... and the pci & agp freq's with be at default

if you don't try, you'll never know.
