I changed a lot of settings and clicked a lot of things without really knowing what I'm doing (don't bother asking what I switched, I don't remember haha)...

Anywho, I'm wondering how I can test the security of this nice little home network I have setup...

And can you tell me what settings I should have disabled / enabled...

If u got a router with a firewall then thats good. If not ,get a firewall for the modem to rig, computer.Also when u share a folder make sure u uncheck where it says to allow or not allow other users make changes to those files.
